I think the brown pelicans had a successful hatchi

I think the brown pelicans had a successful hatching season last year, I saw thousands riding thermals over the Coronados last week and they are in big numbers in LJ as well. These are adults this morning, starting to assume their winter colors.

Browning Pass at the far north end of Vancouver Is

Browning Pass at the far north end of Vancouver Island in British Columbia, home of screaming currents and incredibly colorful reefs which can only be dived on slack tide. As much as I hate dry suits, Richard Salas encouraged me to give it a try and what I saw was amazing, so much color and life covering every inch of reef that I had to return for an even longer trip. Seen here uncommon bluebird skies and no wind.

Braided glacial river in Iceland. The most photogenic braided glacial rivers I saw were in the interior Landmannalaugar region and required a small plane to reach, but this one was very close to the farmhouse we rented on the coast of Iceland. A family of small Icelandic horses that belonged to the farm kept me company as I sat on the bank of the river to fly my drone.
