More photographs of the California race of brown pelicans<\/a> (Pelecanus occidentalis<\/a><\/em>) from a recent morning in La Jolla, between storms. These show the bright red and olive colors that the large gular throat pouch takes on, as well as the dark brown hind neck and yellow head feathers, that are characteristic of breeding adults during winter months.<\/p>\n
