Beauty Pool is located in Upper Geyser Basin. It is connected to neighboring Chromatic Pool. The two are some of the most attractive hot pools in Yellowstone. Typically, either Beauty or Chromatic is overflowing while the water level in the other is slightly lower. After an interval of weeks or months, the situation is (relatively suddenly) reversed. Whichever pool is overflowing fosters a greater variety of cyanobacteria giving it the more colorful appearance of the two.
