The Merced River tumbles over the Silver Apron into Emerald Pool, just above Vernal Falls. Unfortunately, a few careless hikers have tried swimming in Emerald Pool only to be swept downstream and plunge over Vernals Falls to their deaths. Yosemite National Park, Spring.
